My work is guided, in part, by deKooning's observation that    "Painting is a way of living, a style of living so to speak. That is  where the form of it lies."

Tactility is an important element. My painting is premised on the romantic belief (inspired by Zen calligraphy, Rothko, Van Gogh, Cezanne, and many more) that if intentful enough, a single

touch/mark can represent the world.

The abstract painting are painted to be viewed/hung in any orientation.

Sometimes I think of a painting as a spiritual object, like an icon to humanism.

I live in Oakland, California.
